The Future of Mobile Devices

  • This is a PDF of studies, projects, and a lesson plan involving learning through the use of mobile devices in the classroom.

How do you see mobile devices in the classroom being used in the next 3 years and what would you like to see in the future?

21st Century Education

  • What does learning look like in the 21st century?
    • What does literacy look like in the 21st century?
    • What is knowledge in the 21st century? (Or what does it mean to know something in our mediated culture?)

Mobile Technology in the Classroom: Digital Media

  • Are we only utilizing the fundamentals of Mobile devices and ignoring the importance of the role of mobile devices in the classroom?
  • Students are utilizing a number of mobile devices mediums.  Are we getting students acclimated accordingly to the types of mobile technology, such as Socrative, they will be using in college during K-12?

  1. In addition, one of the most interesting links for this topic is: http://www.ted.com/talks/matt_mills_image_recognition_that_triggers_augmented_reality#t-156896
Somehow, this link was left off of our list.

  2. I see classrooms with smart boards, I see books being read off of computers, and I see learning becoming more student-centered. I also see students gaining more ownership of their learning and students being able to use more of their creativity in the authorship of their projects. I see teachers needing much more professional development so that they can stay abreast of the current trends and how to use them to best facilitate teaching their specific discipline. I would like to see classrooms that help even the most reticent students feel comfortable participating and groups where all students work together, collaboratively to create and learn together. I see classrooms that are less competitive and classrooms where everyone has something unique to themselves that they can offer to contribute to the whole.
